At long last the kite flies free!
He loosens it from the tree
A ladder fetched and leaned up
Her cries heard by a kind grownup
The girl looks up through the leaves in tears
Higher and higher! 'Til into the tree it steers
Dipping and diving and soaring!
To the park she races clutching the string.
All set up and ready for flight
Down from the shelf comes the glorious kite
Today's poem comes from the NaPoWriMo prompt to write a poem backwards. So if you start at the end of the poem and read it from bottom to top, it will actually make sense.

ReplyDeleteI thought it made sense either way. :)

ReplyDeleteGorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!! :D
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun thing to try. Either direction, I like the images.
ReplyDeleteI think it did make sense even reading from both direction... for some reason it brings back memories of reading "The Kite Runner" which made it more serious for me.
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful right side up and upside down. Fun stuff!

ReplyDeleteWhat a cool prompt...seems it may have been a bit tricky to write!

Yes indeed, backwards land. I saw that prompt but didn't have time to mess with it. Did the kite ever come back? Most of mine didn't.
ReplyDeleteI like the rhyme pattern in this.
ReplyDeleteClever. I like it!
ReplyDeleteThis really works quote well in either direction.
