Watching the snow fall down
You pressed
to the cold window
Your sister
beside you
Counting
snowflakes
While she
asks
Can you hear
sleigh bells?
How do
reindeer fly?
Are there
enough cookies for Santa?
And you tell
her
With the authority
of a big brother
You’ll stay
awake all night
And find
out.
I just love this heart-warming piece! What a sweet big brother...
ReplyDeleteAwww... love this.
ReplyDeleteThis is,as Mary mentioned, heart-warming. Makes me wish I'd had a big brother...or even a little one! Not sure why this shows me an anonymous! Victoria http://liv2write2day.wordpress.com/
ReplyDeletehaha fun, reminds me of my younger years and all the anticipation of christmas day...ah i get to feel it a bit now through my sons...
ReplyDeleteVery cute. "The authority of a big brother" -- ah the roles we inherit. May we live them nobly.
ReplyDeletehow perfectly sweet. I can picture the two faces up against the window peering out into the night waiting. I love the older brothers determination. A really cute write.
ReplyDeleteAww, that's very sweet. I remember looking out the window at night on Christmas Eve with my five brothers and sisters and thinking for sure that I saw a sleigh pass before the moon...and did I hear reindeer on the roof?!
ReplyDelete...ah, very heart warming offering... the curiosity of a child was adorably expressed... and your silent observations of the entire scene's great and quite affecting... your poem may be short but 'tis so rich... excellent... smiles...
