She is the
fairest in the land
with dead
white skin and blood smeared lips;
lovely
beneath the coffin’s span.
Guarded lest
she rise and walk again.
A Princess
with a thirst for blood
she is the
fairest in the land
who tricked men
and stole their lives.
She is the
terror of the land.
Who dared to
face the Princess grand;
save a
kingdom from her power?
She is the
fairest in the land.
Eight men
tried and eight men died.
A Queen tried
next and made the tomb;
trapping the
Princess behind the glass
and setting guards
about the one
who is the
fairest in the land.
Excellent..loved the topic...and the gory visuals.
ReplyDeleteWell done to form! And quite a tale you told about a princess who is far from an ordinary one!
ReplyDeleteThere's a reverse! What kind of prince would kiss her?
ReplyDeleteA twisted faerie tale - and quite a turning quatern! Lovely (and deadly) work. Much enjoyed!!
ReplyDeleteA grand new spooky tale
ReplyDeletevery cool....a fresh use of the form...i was enchanting with vampires when i was younger...i guess i still am as i enjoyed your verse...a rather twisted fairy tale...esp like the last of it..
ReplyDeleteLet's let her sleep! The form here is great, and I like the slightly different princess tale.
ReplyDeletevery nice!
ReplyDeletebehind glass... made me think of something... maybe there was more to Snow White than we thought - perhaps she didn't bite the apple after all!
loved the tale you told here... great use of the form.
