Christmas Rush

for dVerse

Christmas carols are floating through the air
Cinnamon and peppermint wafting by
Scraps of green wrapping paper everywhere
So many presents stacked and piled high.
Ties for dad; for Lizzie a cat, meow!
Earrings for mom; nuts for all our neighbors.
Check that list twice; what did we forget now?
Keep rushing fast. Buy just one present more.
Can there be a prefect gift that’s stress free?
Not another “some assembly” horror.
Liberate us from this shopping melee
Finish the madness and come to anchor.
Yes, there’s an end in sight to the gauntlet.
Everybody loves a gift of chocolate.

  1. Wheeeew, chocolate to the rescue! :-)

Edit: "scarps" --> "scraps"; "warping" --> "wrapping". I assume it was accidental since it didn't seem to fit with the poem.

  4. You have captured well the frantic busy-ness of the season in this poem. Made me nervous just reading it. LOL. Yes, but chocolate will calm everything down in the end....smiles! Hope you have a happy season.

  6. Must admit I still not have wrapped my prezzies up - must do that soon...

And, urm, I did manage to accidently open a box of chockies which I then had to eat and replace...

    Have a wonderful Christmas.

  7. Ha! That is lovely. Be careful though - one family member once solved everything with chocolate which he left under the tree when we went to church. Not too good for the dog. She survived though. Presents didn't. k.
