This poem was written using only words from page 127 of Essays of E. B. White in the essay "Unity."
Unending sky pretending
The wind is earth
The rain a sovereign
Protected by strong diplomacy
With commands, concerns, constitutions,
A discussion on evolution and progress,
With political pursuits to maintain
Such attention to a wish
Could wake to the broken familiar
Of something wild happening
Love this, especially the last two lines! I don't know if this is what you were intending, but it seems to be an accurate reflection of our news/government and also how many natural disasters are happening nowadays that they've almost become "familiar" -- commonplace.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't trying to write about anything in particular, but the essay I took the words from was about the government (the essay was from the '50s), so it's not surprising that a political commentary snuck in there anyways.
