Sweltering sun rises high
Golden in the summer sky
Casting its dandelion rays
On warm lethargic days
Buttercups and daffodils
Laze across the rolling hills
Bumblebees buzz along
Seeking words for a forgotten song
I commandeer the shade
And sip a glass of lemonade
Written for dVerse.
sounds just right
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder of summer to come. You brought me right into that sunny spot with lemonade in hand.
ReplyDeleteIt would be lovely to have a day like that just dropped in now. I like all your yellows - and especially that final lemon yellow.
ReplyDeleteNice sound in celebration of summer.
ReplyDeleteI loved the brightness of this poem and the easy bounce of the rhyme... refreshing like that lemonade! 😉
ReplyDeleteThis makes me even more impatient for warm weather, well done!
ReplyDeleteLove the thought of lemonade... and if life gives you lemons...
ReplyDeleteI like this a lot...especially "dandelion rays" and "Bumblebees buzz along / Seeking words for a forgotten song". I was craving lemonade just yesterday and wondering why on one of the coldest days of the year (here). I think I'm just craving summer!
