as the earth quakes and stirs
turning over in the night
dreams rousing from the blurs
pulling close a sea of blanket furs
spluttering in departing twilight
as the earth quakes and stirs
against the day’s saboteurs
blades of crackling light
sending dreams into blurs
the cycle whistles and whirs
silver beams to golden sight
As the earth quakes and stirs
the dawn chorus confers
wrens and finches take flight
fizzy dreams tumbling into blurs
As the earth quakes and stirs

Love how you everyone the lines as you progress through your villanelle.
ReplyDeleteLovely villanelle.. make me think of daybreak
ReplyDeleteI agree. Lovely Villanelle.
ReplyDeleteThe repetition of the line 'as the earth quakes and stirs' evokes a sound of a sleeper's breathing or the sea in the distance - a lovely villanelle.
ReplyDeleteClever and beautiful. Where does a dream end and the next one begin
ReplyDeleteI like the twist in the villanelle refrain, smiles ~ My favorite parts are the 2nd and 3rd part: sea of blanket furs, blades of crackling light ~
ReplyDeleteI like how "the earth quakes and stirs" throughout the villanelle.
