Under caliginous twilight,
where stars bestow no light
nor friendly voices sound,
the wretched road wound
through twisted trees
with fitful breeze
and fearful shivers,
over treacherous rivers
to the dragon’s abode.
There the knight rode;
she wounded the dread brute,
liberating the route.

You wrote a good story in few words. :)
ReplyDeleteI really like this one ... such a fairy tale. Nice final lines ... "She wounded the dread brute, liberating the route."
ReplyDeleteCatchy and clever. Great fantasy quadrille.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful tale created to fulfill the prompt! I especially liked the knight turning out to be a female....defying the stereotype. Nice!
ReplyDeleteAn intriguing Quadrille .....
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeously rendered! I have always been fascinated by knights and dragons 💝💝
ReplyDeleteLovely use of both forms of the word - and a female knight too into the bargain.
ReplyDeleteThis was a real fun fairytale, and you taught me a new word, thank you!
ReplyDeleteWonderful tale!
