I Want to Meet You

It has been long my friend; I want to meet you
And speak with one another face to face
Throw open the door widely and greet you
Standing here together in the same space
Thus the threshold becomes a holy place
Where we can freely laugh and weep: converse
Knowing we’ve o’ercome the very worst

Written for dVerse. This is my attempt at a Chaucerian stanza, a seven line poem in iambic pentameter. Writing in meter has never been my strong point, so it's far from prefect. I think though, we are all eager to see each other in real life.

If you have the inclination, you are invited to join members and friends of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 10 in Fasting and Prayer for relief from COVID-19. Everyone is welcome to participate.

  1. I like the thought of the threshold being a holy place. Very nice Chaucerian stanza.

  2. Like the same thing as Frank. I can't wait to be able to visit again face to face
