Across the river spans the ivory bridge
Linking perilous roads from to ridge to ridge
In the turbulent waters below
Dwells the troll
He keeps the bridge and guards the road
If you chance upon him do not run
Though his tusks are sharp and his mace can stun
And he could smash you into a blot
Without a second thought
Don’t try to hide
Just accompany him down to brunch
Where he’ll serve plums and quiche and punch
This is an update to a poem I wrote last year: Bridge Troll and shared with dVerse.

I like your description of meeting the troll and advice to go with him to brunch.
ReplyDeleteLOVE it! Although I'm not quite sure I'd accompany him to brunch as I would worry I would become part of his meal! :) An nice accompaniment to plums and quiche and punch!
ReplyDeleteTrolls serving quiche -- no that is a manly image!
ReplyDeleteEven if he looks bad, he is really kind at heart.
ReplyDeleteI love this rollicking rhyme! Well done, the troll and all. Enjoyed.
