I’m looking back
Back over my shoulder
Back into that time before
To other autumns
And other leaves
Gold-red leaves.
I walked a circle
Turning round and round
In the same steps
Different autumns;
Same steps.
And now;
Autumn is the same
But these steps are new
New, untried, I’m unsteady
On my feet.
Longing for autumns past.
Yet, I’ll go
Forward passing autumn
And on and on
Until my steps circle round again.
interesting reminiesense...thoughts of previous times...autumn def will be a time of that reflection....some all too consuming...
ReplyDeleteMakes me think of how it felt to leave for college - such trepidation, such yearning for the familiar, for those preparations so part of "being home". Nothing would be the same 'til Christmas, and even it wouldn't have the same preparations. Yet thrills lay ahead and new joys replaced the old. Such is the cycle of life. Now I've watched it play out over and over again. I married a professor - our life revolved around the academic calendar. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteI like the circle of the seasons but each autumn experience is new and promising ~ Despite the anxiety, each new step brings us to a new path, and who knows, unexpected blessings ~
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this. Yes, I think this is very true. One autumn reminds us of other autumns. A repeating theme with some variations. We just keep walking on and circling.
