Withdrawal

Photo by TOMOKO UJI on Unsplash

winter gradually withdraws
stomping off clumps of snow
shaking off frosty icicles
leaving puddles behind
spring steps up barefooted
under cotton candy dogwoods
counting emerald clover leaves
calling to the violets and the dandelions
chickadees and cardinals sing back
together they greet the sun

  5. This leaves me a little breathless, with love for spring (and this poem):
    spring steps up barefooted
    under cotton candy dogwoods
    counting emerald clover leaves

  6. “Spring steps up bare-footed” - love that. Sounds like Spring is trying to sneak in quietly.
