When the cockatrices fly forth
Or banshees scream in the north
Causing folk to bolt their doors
Against monsters they abhor
’Tis the cue to call the knight
And watch for that armor bright
Riding tantivy to give aid
However she can with her blade

I liked how the presence of the monsters cued the call for the knight. I also liked the rhyme.
ReplyDeleteNice! I love the cadence of this...almost like horses' hooves, as the night draws close.
ReplyDeleteLove the rhyming!
ReplyDeleteLovely work done!!
ReplyDeleteWe need an amazon knight like that...
ReplyDeleteThat "she" in the last line was a pleasant surprise.
ReplyDeleteI love that the knight is a girl! It reminds me of Game of Thrones.
ReplyDeleteReally, what a fantastic poem. I love your word choices. Your vocabulary and voice are unique and so enthralling. I'm so very pleased by your contribution.
Too clever. Masterfully done
ReplyDeleteTried to leave a comment last night but this whole section for commenting was wonky. Okay, much better tonight. :) Well, I loved that the knight was a SHE! Certainly she would be able to banish the banshees with her ready blade. Great story!
ReplyDeleteOh, I so like that the knight is 'she'.
